Founded by Lawrence Spain, creator of Spain Sober Living, this consulting service was born from both professional expertise and deeply personal experience. After losing a loved one to substance use disorder and mental illness in 2018, Lawrence made it his life’s mission to help others find the hope and healing his family once needed.

With decades of experience in the mental health and recovery field, and as a Board Member for the Austin Chapter of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP), Lawrence brings compassion, credibility, and connection to every family he supports. His leadership in the Austin recovery community—and his close relationships with detox centers, treatment professionals, and therapists—ensure that families working with Spain Family & Recovery Consulting receive personalized, informed, and heart-centered guidance.

At Spain Family & Recovery Consulting, our mission is to empower families with understanding, resources, and emotional clarity as they navigate the pain and confusion of a loved one’s addiction.
